Good news for people waiting for 5G, government is preparing safe infrastructure

The technology that has been the most talked about in the last two years is 5G i.e. the fifth generation telecom technology. 5G has been rolled out commercially in select countries this year. Telecom companies and government are pushing to bring this fifth generation mobile technology in India too. A better infrastructure is needed to bring this technology to India. For this, the government is constantly trying. In this episode, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Thursday that infrastructure is being prepared to provide 5G service to all people in India.

During the Question Hour in the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament, the Union Minister said that so far no case of security threat due to 5G has been revealed. He further said that 5G has also been recognized in the 2020 standards of International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT). Let me tell you that in the past, a company had raised concerns about the safety in the equipment used for 5G technology. The company had said that because of this, this company has also been banned in some countries.

The Union Minister while answering the same question in Parliament said that the Indian market has its own circumstances, according to which India can adopt any technology keeping in mind its security needs. He further said that all these aspects will be considered while allocating 5G spectrum before taking any such decision. Ravi Shankar Prasad also said that the High Level Committee constituted for 5G in 2017 submitted its inquiry report in August 2018. On the basis of this report, the government is preparing the infrastructure for an affordable, safe and effective 5G service.
